This month, “The American Buffalo: A Film by Ken Burns” debuts on PBS. It is a two-part, four-hour series that takes viewers on a journey through more than 10,000 years of North American history. It traces the Buffalo’s evolution and its significance to the people and landscape of the Great Plains.
Our initiative’s founder and member of the InterTribal Buffalo Council, Jason Baldes, consulted on the film.
Jason Baldes was also a contributor to the 18-minute extended documentary film called “Homecoming,” which takes over after “The American Buffalo” ends and highlights the foundational work of the InterTribal Buffalo Council (ITBC) and its partner organizations — including the Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative.
