Wind River Tribal Conservation Summit

Monday, Oct. 13, 2025
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative Headquarters
56XF+VVQ, Kinnear, WY 82516

Before the third annual Buffalo Bash, join WRTBI and The Wyoming Outdoor Council Tribal Conservation Team for the Wind River Tribal Conservation Summit. For generations, the Shoshone and Arapaho peoples have protected Wyoming lands, waters, and wildlife. From the 1938 Roadless Area, to the successful reintroduction of Bighorn Sheep and Pronghorn Antelope, conservation is not just history—it’s our living legacy.

The recent reintroduction of Buffalo highlights that conservation is not just a chapter in our story; it is an active endeavor taking place today on the Wind River Reservation. Today, as we face challenges like diminishing public land and animal protections, and the threats posed by climate change, it is essential for us to unite—just as those before us did—to safeguard our home.

Participate in sessions and workshops throughout the day, focusing on a variety of topics, including:

  • Tribal conservation
  • Buffalo hair cordage
  • Chokecherry patty making
  • Archaeology

Please pre-register for the Summit here. Pre-registration is optional but helps with lunch and logistics planning! For questions, call or email: (307) 851-1016 or bigwind@wyomingoutdoorcouncil.org.
